wu blog finished January 30 2009 0 comments

the new blog is up over at http://www.bjshengr.com/wu/ graciously hosted alongside beijing sounds and echoes of manchu. it’s tentatively named ‘annals of the wu dialects’ though that it likely to change. i’m in the process of migrating some of the things i’d put up here to that site as well as continuing to build upon my growing collection of wu-related resources. anyway take a look. some of you will be pleased to see i’ve taken up the cause of proper english capitalisation on the new site, though don’t expect to see that change happen here. but, with the new site design done it leaves me thinking this blog leaves something to be desired in the area of aesthetics. i kinda rushed through it when changing the design and am now thinking it could stand a new coat of polish.

hung out with my friend jason in changzhou the other day. it was nice to have new eyes through which to see the city, but it also got me thinking about nanjing again. one of the things i miss about nanjing is the ability to just leave the apartment and go see some cool ancient shit. even if it’s faux ancient it’s still something to do. i suppose if the weather were better we may not have ended up starbucks, but really there’s just not that much going on here. i really need to get that xbox replaced.

anyway let me know what you think of the new site. i admit it’s more than a little esoteric, but given the subject matter and given my interests otherwise i make no excuse or attempt to change that. clearly if you’re here anyway you’re able to tolerate a certain level of esotericity.
