As you may or may not have noticed I’m in the middle of making some changes to the site. Some of the changes are minor fixes to images or page layouts that should have been done ages ago but for which I hadn’t found the time or energy to take care of. Other things are more structural and to give the site a greater sense of direction.
I mention this only because there will be the occasional misaligned image or broken link as I work on it. I don’t really think it’s enough of a problem to shut the whole site down to do so instead I’ll be working on it as I find the time.
Things to expect in the future include useful phrases in multiple Wu dialects including numbers for bargaining, taxi directions for directing taxis and other words that may be worth knowing.
In addition I’m opening the site up to guest writers. If you have some insight or experience with one of the dialects that you’d like to share, drop me an email. Topics can cover a wide range and don’t necessarily have to be about a Wu dialect depending on what it is, for example your own experience in learning some key points. You can contact me through twitter @kellenparker or email me at kellenparker at gmail dot com.
Lastly, I am working on getting time to finally do some regional travel to get a number of recordings and other resources. There was a bit of a long-term snag in my personal life that kept me from a number of my larger plans. It has since resolved itself so I can start directing my energy elsewhere.
update: I’ve just added the ability to share posts using Twitter, Facebook and the HaoHao Report. The links are to the left of each post title. Meanwhile you can now follow updates to this site on Twitter at @AnnalsOfWu.
