*** hailambi, according to Zakharov, means [the deities reject an offering, which can be recognized when after having poured liquor into ears of the offered swine or sheep the animal's ears do not shudder], xulembi (xeolembi, siolembi) has two meanings – 1. to embroider, from Chinese 绣 xiù, 2. to levy, to collect taxes, from Chinese 收 shōu. Kawachi interprets it this way and he doesn’t translate these words, leaving them in their Manchu form. However, Tulisow (Folklor ludów tunguskich, p.101) suggests that hailambi can be identified with Mongolian qayila- [to lament, to wail], and xulembi with Manchu xulimbi [to twitter, to sing (of birds)], and thus translated as “I am wailing! I am singing!”.

This sentence is problematic, and has been translated many creative ways in the available translations.  The main problem is the word solho, which means “Korean”, but here that would be completely illogical unless Nari Fiyanggo was Korean.  We are going along with Kawachi’s idea that it is a misspelling of the word for “weasel” (although we disagree with Kawachi’s interpretation of the sentence as a whole).  We are taking it as a vocative, fitting in with Teteke’s playful relationship with Nari Fiyanggo.

Notice the alliteration in the above passage: amba jilgan i acingiyame, den jilgan i dekennime, haihvngga mudan hayaljame narhvn jilgan nadame. ****hanilambi (hanalambi) – this word can’t be found in any of the dictinaries we know. At first our hypothesis was that it was a variant of hailambi, MaChMo:不受享 bù shòu ​xiǎng ​​“to not enjoy, to not accept an offering” (the second sense confirmed by Norman). However, Kawachi claims that it means 死の世界に行く – “to go to the Underworld”, making reference to Shirokogoroff’s “Psychomental Complex of the Tungus“, p308. This seemed a bit suspicious until we found out that the verb most probably is a loan from Chinese 觀落陰 (观落阴) guān ​luò​ yīn , a Daoist ritual of entering the spirit world, still popular today. You can read more about it here, and even watch a short video.  Daoism and Chinese Folk Religion influenced each other heavily early on.

** han julhun – a name of a disease.  han seems to be an appellation referring to Sergudai, and julhun seems to refer to the disease, since a cure is yet to be indicated.  Kawachi interprets it as a variant or misspelling of jijuhun [digram, trigram, or hexagram of the Book of Changes], or julgen [good fortune, lucky chance]; Durrant translates it as “circumstances of death”; Volkova simply transcribes it and adds a note saying “a name of a disease, apparently a shamanic term”.
